Get ready for an intense clash as the West Indies Emerging Team (WIE) faces off against Ireland Emerging (IRE-E) in the 2nd Unofficial ODI of the Ireland Emerging tour of the West Indies 2023 at the Coolidge Cricket Ground in Antigua. With a series of three ODIs scheduled, Ireland Emerging currently leads 1-0 after securing victory in the first unofficial ODI by 26 runs.
In the previous encounter, Ireland Emerging opted to bat after winning the toss. Despite early setbacks with Stephen Doheny’s dismissal by Johann Layne, Murray Commins steadied the innings. Gavin Hoey added 25 runs before being dismissed by Joshua Bishop, while a commendable 110-run partnership between Commins and Thomas Mayes propelled Ireland Emerging to a competitive total of 245 runs in their 50 overs.
Responding to the challenge, the West Indies Emerging Team commenced their innings with a promising 58-run partnership between Kadeem Alleyne and Matthew Nandu. However, Alleyne’s dismissal by Matthew Foster didn’t deter them, and Leonardo Julien’s contributions further solidified their stance. Despite Junior Sinclair’s efforts, the batting line-up faltered in the middle, succumbing to Gavin Hoey’s pivotal dismissal. Ultimately, the West Indies Emerging Team concluded their innings at 219 runs, falling short of the target. Key wickets by Scott Macbeth and Gavin Hoey proved instrumental for Ireland Emerging.
