Sydney Thunder Women will lock horns with Perth Scorchers Women in the 44th match of the WBBL 2023 at the Sydney Showground Stadium in Sydney on November 18. Sydney Thunder Women have won six games and are in fourth place in the table, while Perth Scorchers Women have been brilliant with eight wins and are comfortably placed at the top of the table.
Sydney Thunder Women last played against Adelaide Strikers Women, where Adelaide Strikers Women won the toss and elected to field. Sydney did not start too well after being put to bat, being reduced to 32 runs for three wickets. Their middle order did come to fight and provided them the breathing space, which took the team to a total of 118 runs. Adelaide, in reply, was brilliant from the start, with the opening stand being 44. However, they lost two wickets in quick succession but did not panic and cruised to their target, winning the match by six wickets emphatically.
Perth Scorchers Women squared off against Sydney Sixers Women in their last game, where Sydney Sixers Women won the toss and elected to field. In an attempt to get an aggressive start, Perth lost a couple of wickets early but had a good partnership for the third wicket to assure them of a good total. With some flourish provided by the middle order, they went on to score a strong total of 189 runs. Sydney, in reply, tried starting aggressively as well but kept losing wickets at regular intervals. They lacked crucial partnerships, which their opponents had, and as a result, lost the game by 61 runs.
