Spain had played off against France in their last encounter, where Spain won the toss and elected to bowl. France was off to a rollicking start, amassing 44 runs for the opening stand in just three overs. But after the loss of the first wicket, the wickets just kept tumbling one after the other, and by the end, they could only score 97 runs. In reply, Spain lost a wicket early, but they did not let their scoring rate come to a halt. They kept the scoreboard ticking, and as a result of that, they won the match by seven wickets.
Ireland XI had played off against Hungary in their last encounter, where Hungary won the toss and elected to bat. They started well and kept scoring at a rapid pace. Their batters looked to be in great touch as everyone who came to bat scored well. With the help of a fantastic finish by the middle order, they put up a good total of 137 runs. Ireland XI, in reply, started at an even better pace and went all guns blazing right from the start. They won the match easily by eight wickets with eight balls to spare.
