Pretoria Capitals (PRC) will face Durban Super Giants (DSG) in the 10th match of SA20 2024 on Thursday (January 18) at the SuperSport Park in Centurion. Capitals have lost both their matches so far and are in last position in the points tally. Super Giants have won all their three matches and are at the top of the points table.
The Capitals faced Paarl Royals in their recent encounter and opted to bowl after winning the toss. The Royals faced early setbacks, losing their first wicket with only seven runs on the board. However, David Miller and Mitchell Van Buuren orchestrated a remarkable partnership, amassing 141 runs for the fourth wicket after the Royals had lost three wickets for 69 runs. Both Miller and Van Buuren contributed with 70-plus runs each, propelling the Royals to a formidable total of 210 runs for the loss of three wickets. Adil Rashid, James Neesham, and Daryn Dupavillon each claimed one wicket for the Capitals.
In response, the Capitals faced a challenging start, losing their first two wickets with only four runs on the board. Rilee Rossouw and Will Jacks then formed a crucial partnership, adding 147 runs for the third wicket. Jacks played a brisk innings, scoring 58 runs off 34 deliveries, while Rossouw contributed 82 runs off 45 deliveries. No other batter managed to make a significant contribution, and the Capitals concluded their innings with 200 runs for the loss of seven wickets. The Royals secured victory by a margin of 10 runs in what proved to be a closely contested match.
The Super Giants faced the Joburg Super Kings in their recent clash and elected to bat after winning the toss, They encountered early challenges, losing four wickets with only 34 runs on the board. Heinrich Klaasen played a crucial innings, scoring 64 runs off 41 deliveries and emerging as the highest scorer. His performance allowed the Super Giants to post a total of 145 runs for the loss of eight wickets.
Lizaad Williams proved to be the standout bowler for the Super Kings, claiming four wickets for 26 runs in his four-over spell. In response, the Super Kings’ batting struggled, with Faf du Plessis and Reeza Hendricks contributing 33 runs for the first wicket before du Plessis was dismissed for seven runs off 17 deliveries. The Super Kings then faced a collapse, losing the next five wickets for just 38 runs. Despite a fine innings of 36 runs off 26 deliveries by Mooen Ali, who was dismissed in the 20th over, the Super Kings could only manage a total of 108 runs for the loss of nine wickets. This resulted in a 37-run victory for the Super Giants.
