New York Cowboys faced NJ Titans in the third game of the US Premier League 2023 on Tuesday (November 14) at Central Boward Park in Florida.
Texas Cowboys, which finished in fourth place in Phase II last season, will be known as New York Cowboys this season. They finished second in Group A of Phase I with one win in three games. They lost the semi-final game last season against Pennsylvania Cavaliers by a mere margin of five runs and failed to chase down the target of 184 runs.
The Cowboys have retained as many as seven players from last season, including the highest run-getter, Yohan Samarawickrama. Imran Raja, who finished with the most wickets for the team last season, also finds a place in the squad this year. Jaladh Dua, who captained the side during Phase I last season, is returning to lead the squad this year. Chiranshu Bhatia will serve as the vice-captain of the team this year.
NJ Titans finished first in Group B during Phase I of the tournament with two wins in three games. They won five out of seven games in Phase II and finished in second place. They went on to play the semi-final game against Carolina Eagles, which the Eagles won by four wickets after chasing the target of 195 runs in 19 overs with four wickets in hand.
Vadnit Prajapati and Noman Iftikhar are the only two players from last season who have retained their place in the Titans’s squad this year. Harmeet Singh has been named the captain, while Andries Gous is the team’s vice-captain.
