England Under-19 will be up against Australia Under-19 in the first Youth Test match of the Australia Under-19 Tour of England at the County Ground in Worcester from September 8. Both these teams are comprised of some of the most talented and dynamic young players who might also go ahead to represent their nation on the international stage.
Both the teams had squared off against each other in their last Youth Test match, which was held at the Alan Pettigrew Oval in Brisbane, where England won the toss and elected to bat. Choosing to bat did not seem like a good decision, as they failed to make good partnerships and kept losing wickets right from the start. With only one half-century from Danial Ibrahim, England were bundled together for a mere total of 165. Australia lost two early wickets but was followed by some fantastic partnerships, which helped Australia put up a strong total of 346 runs on the board.
England managed to make a good comeback and improved their mistakes from the first innings. They lost the first wicket cheaply but had back-to-back centurion partnerships to patch things up. With a century and a couple of half-centuries to their names, England posted a good total of 367 runs in the third innings, but Australia was just too good to let the match go away. Australia lost their first wicket cheaply, but the batters did not panic and stabled the ship with back-to-back good partnerships. Australia Under-19 team won the match easily by seven wickets.
