Both the teams had squared off against each other in their last Youth Test match, which was held at the Alan Pettigrew Oval in Brisbane, where England won the toss and elected to bat. Australia lost two early wickets but was followed by some fantastic partnerships, which helped Australia put up a strong total of 346 runs on the board.
England managed to make a good comeback and improved their mistakes from the first innings. They lost the first wicket cheaply but had back-to-back centurion partnerships to patch things up. With a century and a couple of half-centuries to their names, England posted a good total of 367 runs in the third innings, but Australia was just too good to let the match go away. Australia lost their first wicket cheaply, but the batters did not panic and stabled the ship with back-to-back good partnerships. Australia Under-19 team won the match easily by seven wickets.
