The much-awaited clash between Barbados Royals Women (BR-W) and Guyana Amazon Warriors Women (GUY-W) are set to kick off the WCPL 2023 at the iconic Kensington Oval in Barbados. This season’s WCPL introduces a dynamic twist as overseas players join the squads. The tournament follows a round-robin format where the three teams battle it out twice, with the top two earning the coveted spots in the finals.
BR-W, led by Hayley Matthews, brings a formidable lineup to the tournament. Having played in the finals in the previous season, the team has bolstered its ranks with overseas players Gaby Lewis, Amanda Wellington, and Erin Burns. On the other side, GUY-W, captained by Stafanie Taylor, is keen on reversing their fortunes. They fell short in their last match against BR-W, and now they aim to turn the tables. The inclusion of overseas stars Shabnim Ismail, Sophie Devine, and Suzie Bates adds depth to GUY-W’s squad.
