The stage is set at the Brian Lara Stadium in Trinidad as Barbados Royals Women (BR-W) and Guyana Amazon Warriors Women (GUY-W) lock horns in the Final of the WCPL 2023. This is the third face-off between these formidable teams in the tournament. In their previous encounter, BR-W emerged victorious by a slim margin of just three wickets, setting the stage for an intense final.
Barbados Royals Women (BR-W), led by the talented Hayley Matthews, have shown their mettle throughout the tournament, earning their spot in the Finals. However, their last league match saw them face a narrow defeat against TKR-W. Despite Gaby Lewis’s remarkable 62-run contribution, they fell short, managing only 142 runs for the loss of seven wickets in response to TKR-W’s 155.
On the other hand, Guyana Amazon Warriors Women (GUY-W), under the experienced leadership of Stephanie Taylor, showcased exceptional skills to secure their place in the Finals. Their last match against TKR-W was a dominant display, with Sophie Devine’s all-round performance and Karishma Ramharack’s stellar bowling leading them to a convincing nine-wicket victory.
